Bean-Girl and I were taking the train out to Naperville to hear Stacy Tappan sing, when we passed through Riverside and saw this amazing water tower:
It's sad to think that no city council since the 1920's would authorized a delightfully eccentric public expenditure.

Want to see eccentric? Look at the street layout for Riverside on Google Maps. Olmstead and Vaux must have been hop-heads.
They were just ahead of their times. After Levittown Long Island, no major suburb was laid out on a grid pattern, it made the repetition of the house designs too obvious.
